The new Phineas and Ferb film, Candace Against The Universe dropped today on Disney Plus. Find out about returning characters and the actors behind them.
Phineas and Ferb aired as a television series on Disney Channel between 2007-2015. The brainchild of former The Simpsons animators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh”, the beloved animated comedy told the story of step-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher. Every day of their summer vacation, the pair built a new incredible invention in their backyard.
Now, over 5 years after the show stopped airing on TV, the duo and their friends are back for an all new adventure. In Candace Against The Universe on Disney Plus, the boys’ titular stepsister is drawn more into the adventure than ever before.
Here are all the characters and actors in the new film.
Phineas Flynn

As one of the two title characters, it is no surprise to see that Phineas is back for this film. In Candace Against The Universe, everyone’s favourite youthful inventor with a triangular shaped head turns rescuer on a mission to save abducted sister, Candace.
Former Everybody Hates Chris actor Vincent Martella reprises his voice role as Phineas. Now 27, he first played the character at 14 years of age. In between the series and this film, Martella also reprised Phineas in an episode of Milo Murphy’s Law.
Ferb Fletcher

The more silent of the title characters, Phineas’ British-born stepbrother Ferb is on hand once again. The skilled ‘man of action’ is once again required to bring his technical expertise into play for the all important rescue mission on which the film is centered.
In Candace Against The Universe, Ferb is voiced by David Errigo Jr, who had previously done so in Milo Murphy’s Law. Errigo Jr now effectively replaces original voice actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually, Maze Runner) on a full time basis.
Candace Flynn

Considering that her name is in the title, it would be surprising if Candace wasn’t in the film. Of course, Candace is still spending her very long summer trying to ‘bust’ her brothers to no avail. Unfortunately for her, the latest attempt goes awry…
Ashley Tisdale returns in the role of Candace, notching up yet another Disney credit following High School Musical, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and the Phineas and Ferb television series.
Isabella Garcia-Shapiro

Danville’s resident Fireside Girl is back for another slice of action. Isabella joins her crush Phineas and the rest of their friends for the intergalactic adventure shown in the new film.
Alyson Stoner – who you may recognise for her live-action roles in Cheaper By The Dozen or Camp Rock, dons Isabella’s bow once again to bring the character to life. Similarly to Martella and Phineas, Stoner first played this character when she was a teenager.
Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz

Inept evil scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz is back – after a recurring stint on Milo Murphy’s Law – now allied with Phineas, Ferb and the gang to save their respective loved ones from the alien planet.
Dan Povenmire voices Doof once again, in addition to his writing duties and being co-creator of the original series. Povenmire drew his first Phineas sketch in 1992-1993, around the time that eventual voice actor Vincent Martella was born.
Perry the Platypus/Agent P

Perry makes his return in Candace Against The Universe – albeit in the shadows for various reasons – still the butt-kicking platypus that fans first met in 2007. He’s still a mostly silent character, communicating through gestures and a few sounds.
Those sounds are provided by returning voice artist Dee Bradley Baker, who is known for his work in other cartoons such as American Dad and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Baljeet Tjinder and Buford van Stomm

Baljeet and Buford, Phineas and Ferb’s chalk-and-cheese friends also return for Candace Against The Universe. As members of the core friendship group, they naturally have quite significant roles in the overall film.
Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock, Weeds) returns to voice Baljeet while comedian and former Phineas and Ferb writer Bobby Gaylor brings life to lovable bully Buford once again.
Major Monogram and Carl

Major Francis Monogram and intern Carl of the OWCA (Organisation without a Cool Acronym) are back in Candace Against The Universe, giving Agent P his orders.
Co-creator Jeff “Swampy” Marsh voices Major Monogram while actor/musician Tyler Mann plays Carl. Both actors are reprising their roles from the television.
Vanessa Doofenshmirtz

Vanessa, rebellious daughter of Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz – and Ferb’s future girlfriend – is yet another returning character in Candace Against The Universe. She is an important component at the beginning of the film, being abducted alongside Candace.
Fresh off her stints on Adventure Time and Celebrity X-Factor, actress and singer Olivia Olson is back to reprise her role as Vanessa. For those who don’t know, Olivia is the daughter of series songwriter Martin Olson.
Lawrence Fletcher and Linda Flynn-Fletcher

Phineas and Ferb’s ever oblivious parents, Lawrence and Linda, are back for another round in Candace Against The Universe. Who knows, maybe Candace will succeed in ‘busting’ this time around?
Sabrina The Teenage Witch actress Caroline Rhea reprises her role as Linda while creator of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Richard O’Brien, is back as Lawrence.
Stacy Hirano

Candace’s best friend Stacy, a major recurring character in the television series, makes brief comeback appearances throughout the movie.
Actress Kelly Hu (The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, Warehouse 13) returns once again to voice the role of Stacy.
Jeremy Johnson

Candace’s boyfriend Jeremy also makes a minor return in the film. Much like the television series, Jeremy still appears to be working in the “Slushy” food chain.
Disney veteran Mitchel Musso (Hannah Montana, Pair of Kings) reprises the role of Jeremy in Candace Against The Universe.
Honourable Mentions: Norm (John Viener), Roger Doofenshmirtz (John Hurley), The Fireside Girls (Various)
