The Masked Singer UK: 12 Celebrities Who Should Be In Season 2

by Conor O'Brien

The Masked Singer UK, the latest adaptation of South Korea’s King Of Mask Singer, aired on ITV throughout January and February 2020.

Twelve celebrities, decked out in elaborate costumes, competed to keep their identities hidden until the very end. Some of the reveals included megastar American musician CeeLo Green as Monster while Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts took the crown as Queen Bee.

As there were only twelve participants, very few celebrities have yet to take part in the show.

Read on for twelve choices who should be in Season 2.

Mel C – Singer, The Spice Girls

Melanie Chisholm, better known as Mel C, was a member of influential girl group The Spice Girls. The band first formed in 1994 and has subsequently had multiple reunions, the most recent being in 2018.

Mel C is no stranger to reality television, appearing as a judge or mentor on various series. Some examples include Asia’s Got Talent, The X Factor Australia and Superstar.

She was also an incorrect guess for Duck prior to that reveal as Skunk Anansie’s lead singer Skin.

Alan Carr – Comedian

Like Season 1’s runner-up, Carr is a successful comedian and household name in the UK.

While his distinct mannerisms and voice would likely make it obvious who the masked character is, Carr would be an interesting addition to the show.

Jade Thirlwall – Singer, Little Mix

Thirlwall is a member of Little Mix, a highly successful girl group who won The X Factor in 2011, the first band to accomplish this feat.

Throughout season one of The Masked Singer UK, Thirlwall was a primary guess for the true identity of Queen Bee, the eventual winner.

Seeing how excited Thirlwall’s fans were when it was believed she could be Queen Bee, having her actually be on the show might be a good idea.

Jamie Redknapp – Former Professional Footballer

Son of Harry Redknapp and one-time midfielder for AFC Bournemouth, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton. He now works as a pundit for Sky Sports.

Redknapp is no stranger to television, appearing since 2010 on A League Of Their Own and also presented Football’s Next Star.

Like many other footballers, Redknapp’s name was suggested to be Tree in the first season, only for Teddy Sheringham to later be unveiled.

Kym Marsh – Actress/Singer

Most recently, Marsh is known for playing Michelle Connor on Coronation Street between 2006 and 2019.

Prior to finding success on the soap, Marsh was a member of the band Hear’Say (alongside Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, Danny Foster and Noel Sullivan), which formed on the television series Popstars in 2001.

Marsh was also guessed during season one of The Masked Singer UK, being speculated as the Fox.

Alexander Armstrong – Comedian/Presenter of ‘Pointless’

Armstrong has found success both in comedy and daytime television. He is known for his successful partnership with Ben Miller as Armstrong & Miller. Their work has included their own series, The Armstrong & Miller Show, for three years between 2007 and 2010.

Since 2009, Armstrong has also hosted the BBC quiz Pointless alongside former University contemporary Richard Osman.

Additionally, Armstrong has also already dabbled in music, releasing two albums in 2015 and 2016.

It also helps that he was guessed as Hedgehog during season one…

Rag ‘n’ Bone Man – Singer

Since releasing his first hit single, titled “Human” in 2016 and his album of the same name during the following year, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man (real name Rory Graham) has made a major breakthrough in music.

He has collaborated with other artists including Calvin Harris and Zucchero Fornaciari.

As is the trend of celebrities on this list, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man was guessed by the judges previously. He was theorised as being Monster, who was later revealed as CeeLo Green.

Ashley Roberts – Singer, The Pussycat Dolls

American-born Roberts has made a number of appearances on British television since finishing as runner-up on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2012.

Since then, she has appeared on major ITV programming such as Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Dancing On Ice as well as participating in Strictly Coming Dancing in 2018.

So, why not add The Masked Singer to that list?

After all, Roberts’ bandmate Nicole Scherzinger is a judge on the American counterpart and she was believed to be Octopus during the early weeks of The Masked Singer UK.

Emily Atack – Actress (The Inbetweeners)

Atack is an actress, known for playing Charlotte Hincliffe on The Inbetweeners as well as appearing in the 2016 Dad’s Army film.

She has participated in ITV reality shows including Dancing On Ice, Celebrity Juice and I’m A Celebrity… parlaying the latter into a new career as a presenter on the spin-off, Extra Camp.

One of Atack’s co-hosts on Extra Camp before its cancellation was The Masked Singer UK presenter Joel Dommett.

Atack has also parodied the series during a skit on The One Show.

Michael Ball – Actor/Singer/Stage Performer

Ball, known for his work on stage, has held many notable roles including Marius in the original West End cast of Les Miserables and Raoul in Phantom of the Opera.

He has additionally represented the United Kingdom in the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest and in 1989, achieved a number two on the UK Singles Chart with the song “Love Changes Everything.”

As a highly successful vocalist, someone of Ball’s caliber would be a coup for The Masked Singer UK.

Prior to Hedgehog’s reveal, Ball was widely believed to be behind that mask until Jason Manford was eventually unmasked.

Robbie Williams – Singer

Williams has achieved great success in his music career, first as a member of Take That (which he rejoined between 2010-2012) and later as a solo artist.

While his name was never suggested in his home country, Williams was a guess for an American Masked Singer – Rottweiler, during their season two.

He is a face known all over the UK and has a distinctive voice, so putting Williams into The Masked Singer‘s unique set-up would be an interesting situation.
