Anthony Turpel is a member of the ‘Love, Victor‘ ensemble cast. The actor plays Felix on the new Hulu series. In a recent interview, Turpel outlined how he got the role.
Love, Victor made its Hulu debut on June 17, 2020. The series is a television sequel to the hit 2018 film Love, Simon which was directed by Greg Berlanti and written by This Is Us co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. In the new show, Anthony Turpel (No Good Nick, The Bold and the Beautiful) plays Felix, the eccentric new neighbour to title character Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino).
In a recent interview with Brief Take, Turpel discussed his experiences in landing the major role. He also shared fears that he was going to lose out on being cast in the first place.
The actor said: “I got an audition. I went and it was just me and the casting agent. We did the scene and I felt pretty good about it. And, if I’m remembering it correctly, right after that audition, I went straight to producers, which doesn’t happen often.”

Turpel continued by saying: “I was terrified. I walk into the room and I see George [Sear] who plays Benji. He was there and I thought he was going out for my role. So, I said hi and he talked in his British accent. I’m like, ‘well, I’m not getting this’. I mean, he’s insanely handsome, he has a British accent, he’s totally getting this.”
Meanwhile, Turpel added: “Later, I found out he was auditioning for a different part. Yeah, so that’s how I met George. I went in and read with Michael, I loved Michael right from the beginning. Then I left, got it and was like ‘oh my gosh’.”
Following on from that experience, Turpel said: “Then, after that I started meeting up with cast. We started becoming friends. Some of the best people I think I’ve ever met in my life. Incredibly cool. That’s kind of how it went.”
Love, Victor is airing all 10 episodes on Hulu.
