Actress Yvette Monreal stars as Yolanda Montez on DC’s Stargirl. This is a look further into the actress behind Wildcat.
Yvette Monreal, a Los Angeles native, is a series regular on Stargirl, which premiered in May 2020. Monreal plays high school student Yolana Montez, who becomes heroine Wildcat in the Justice Society of America (JSA). The now-defunct superhero group is newly based in Blue Valley, Nebraska.
Previously, Monreal and her co-stars made a cameo in Legends of Tomorrow during Crisis On Infinite Earths, ahead of Stargirl’s premiere later in the year.
Despite playing a high schooler, Yvette Monreal was born in July 1992, making her 27-years-years-old as of writing. Her first professional acting credit was a minor role on MTV’s Awkward, in 2014. That show starred Ashley Rickards, Beau Mirchoff and Brett Davern.

Additionally, Monreal had a recurring role on another MTV series, Faking It. For those who don’t remember, that show told the story of two female friends who pretend (or “fake”) to be a lesbian couple. Monreal played “Raegan” in 10 episodes during 2014 and 2015.
As well as this, Monreal appeared as “Senna Galan” in 8 episodes of Matador, created by Roberto Orci, among others. The 2014 action-drama focused on a DEA agent (Gabriel Luna) who was tasked with infiltrating a professional football (soccer) team. Monreal’s future Stargirl co-star Neil Hopkins (Crusher Crock/Sportsmaster) was among the cast, as was Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2).
In 2015, she played the character “Adriana” in two episodes of The Fosters, aired on Freeform. Monreal also co-starred in the 2016 drama film Lowriders, directed by Ricardo de Montreuil and starring Eva Longoria, Tony Revelori and future fellow Arrowverse stars, Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) and Cress Williams (Black Lightning).

In 2019, Monreal featured in one of her biggest roles to date, playing “Gabrielle” opposite Sylvester Stallone in Rambo: Last Blood. It is the fifth entry in the Rambo film franchise that began in 2008. Her character is the niece of protagonist John Rambo, portrayed by Stallone and is held hostage in Mexico throughout the film.
For her performance, Monreal won the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2019 National Film & TV Awards.
Stargirl airs on DC Universe and The CW.
