From Courageous Nerd‘s sister platform NerdyChats – 10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Boys.
Based on the hit comic book series by Garth Ennis, the series returns for its 3rd season on Prime Video. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke serves as showrunner/Executive Producer.
Furthermore, the series stars Karl Urban (“Billy Butcher”), Jack Quaid (“Hugh ‘Hughie’ Campbell”) Laz Alonso (“Marvin ‘MM’ Milk”) Tomer Capon (“Serge/Frenchie”) and Karen Fukuhara (“Kimiko/The Female”) as the titular vigilante group.
Meanwhile, the show also features Antony Starr (“John/Homelander”), Erin Moriarty (Annie January/Starlight”), Dominique McElligott (“Maggie Shaw/Queen Maeve”), Jessie T. Usher (“Reggie Franklin/A-Train”), Chace Crawford (Kevin Moskowitz/The Deep”) and Nathan Mitchell (“Black Noir”) as “The Seven”, a team of superheroes. The twist? For the most part, this group is neither super nor heroic.
The Boys seek to expose their corruption, as well as their employer Vought International, an unscrupulous corporation. In Season 2, the world discovered that superheroes were not naturally born. In fact, they had been injected with a manufactured drug known as ‘Compound V’, providing them with powers.
Season 2 left many of the characters heading in different directions. How does Hughie working for the government affect his ties to The Boys? Will Homelander become even more unhinged? After how Season 2 ended, will Stormfront resurface at some point? As of writing, all remains to be seen.
Jensen Ackles (“Dean Winchester”, Supernatural) joins The Boys in Season 3 as “Soldier Boy”, a WW2-era superhero. The recurring cast includes heavy hitters such as Simon Pegg, Giancarlo Esposito, Shantel VanSanten, Elisabeth Shue (a regular in Season 1), Jim Beaver and Executive Producer Seth Rogen, who makes occasional appearances as himself.
Season 3 premieres on Prime Video, on June 3, 2022.
