Tom Felton is an English actor who is best known for playing Draco Malfoy, school nemesis of the title character in all eight films comprising the Harry Potter series.
While Felton will forever be associated with the pure-blood menace, he has played other notable roles before, during and after Potter ended in 2011. Let’s take a look at some of them.
“Peagreen clock” (the borrowers; 1997)
Felton was one of the few child actors on Potter to have already appeared in feature film prior to the first installment. This is due in part to his role as Peagreen in 1997’s The Borrowers, based on the novel by Mary Norton and also starring future Potter co-stars Jim Broadbent (Horace Slughorn) and Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley).
“himself” (get him to the greek, 2010)
Released near the end of his run as Draco, Felton made a cameo appearance as himself in this 2010 comedy starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill.
“dodge landon” (rise of the planet of the apes, 2011)
Felton’s first major post-Potter release in which he played a sadistic ape handler working at a sanctuary where Caesar (Andy Serkis) is brought. Unlike Draco who was no more than a cowardly bully, Dodge was truly despicable both as a person and towards the animals in his care.
“erich blunt” (murder in the first, tv series; 2014)
Felton made his American television debut with 2014’s detective anthology Murder in the First, playing Erich Blunt, a Silicon Valley prodigy suspected of murder, during the first season. He starred alongside Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson.
“julian albert” (the flash, tv series; 2016-2017)
Felton was a series regular on the third season of The CW’s hit superhero drama, evolving from Barry’s (Grant Gustin) workplace nemesis to a full-fledged member of Team Flash and love interest for the newly metahuman Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker).
He left the show between the third and fourth seasons, with his character Julian departing for London off-screen.
“matt grey” (feed, 2017)
In this 2017 drama film, Felton played the late twin brother of Troian Bellisario’s (also the screenwriter) character Olivia, who is struggling adapting to life after his passing.
“laertes” (ophelia, 2018)
A reinvention of Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet, Felton played the title character’s (Daisy Ridley) older brother as the narrative instead follows her journey rather than the Prince of Denmark.
“logan maine” (origin, web series; 2018)
On YouTube Premium’s short-lived science fiction drama Origin, Felton starred as troubled Logan Maine in ten episodes released during 2018. The series was created by Mika Watkins and also starred Potter alum Natalia Tena, Sen Mitsuji and Nora Arnezeder.
Origin was cancelled in March 2019.
