The new season of Phineas and Ferb has dropped on Disney Channel and Disney Plus. Here’s a look at returning characters and the actors behind them.
Beloved animated comedy Phineas and Ferb originally aired on Disney Channel from 2007 until 2015.
It’s the brainchild of Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh – whose past credits notably include The Simpsons.
Meanwhile, the premise follows two step-brothers, who spend their summer vacation building incredible inventions.
Despite the show wrapping up a decade ago, fans haven’t had to fully say goodbye to the characters.
The core cast reprised their roles in an episode of Milo Murphy’s Law – which had the same creators as Phineas and Ferb.
In addition, 2020 saw the release of feature film Candace Against The Universe on Disney+ – as a standalone story.

With the characters now back in the TV medium, let’s look at who’s returned to reprise their roles.
Vincent Martella is back as the voice of protagonist Phineas Flynn.
The actor, now 32, first began playing Phineas when he was just 13.
He is also well-known for playing best friend Greg Wuliger on Everybody Hates Chris.
Martella previously told Courageous Nerd: “I definitely consider it to be not just the favourite job I’ve had, but probably the most important. I’ve known this for a while now.
“It’s hard to describe the good feeling of seeing kids dress up as these characters for Halloween.”
Also coming back is Ashley Tisdale as the voice of Candace, the boys’ over-the-top big sister.
Will Candace finally achieve her goal of “busting” her brothers?
Tisdale, 39, is Disney Channel royalty thanks to her roles in beloved franchises.
She notably played Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical movies. Rich, dramatic and driven, the character often served as an antagonist.
However, Tisdale also played down-to-Earth Maddie Fitzpatrick in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
She appeared throughout the run and later guest starred on its sequel, Suite Life on Deck.
David Errigo, Jr reprises his role as Ferb from Milo Murphy’s Law and Candace Against The Universe.
For the new episodes, he succeeds Ferb’s original voice actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster.
Aged 38, Errigo’s other credits include Ridley Jones, Detective Pikachu and Tiny Toons Looniversity.
He spoke to Just Jared, saying; “I wanna honor the legacy of what (original Ferb voice actor) Thomas Brodie-Sangster brought to this role because first and foremost I am a fan of this show.
“Like I fell in love with it back in 2012 and I didn’t get involved until late 2017 (for Candace Against the Universe).
“So for me, the pressure was partially external, partially internal. But one of the things that helped me take a little bit of, um, to make a little light of it is there are few other shows where you take over a role and there’s literally a song in their cannon that says something to the effect of, this is literally the title of a song. ‘You’re not Ferb.’
“Um, so for, for that to be in existence and to have people sort of leveling that ahead of time, but then for it to come out and have people be like,
“’No, that’s my [Ferb], yep. Thank you. Great job,’ has been really, really wonderful and rewarding”.

Voice acting legend Dee Bradley Baker provides Perry the Platypus’ vocal effects once again.
While he doesn’t directly “voice” Perry, the 62-year-old’s many credits include American Dad!, Adventure Time and Codename: Kids Next Door.
Series co-creator Dan Povenmire is back as the voice of inept “evil” scientist, Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz.
The animator and producer, 61, drew his first Phineas sketch back in 1993. From there, he and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh” spent over a decade trying to sell the series.
The show eventually found a home on Disney Channel and, of course, the rest is history.
Prior to Phineas and Ferb going to series, Povenmire worked on Family Guy for several years.
He and co-creator Marsh also collaborated on The Simpsons as well as Rocko’s Modern Life.
Who else is coming back?
Other returning stars include Marsh as Major Monogram, Alyson Stoner as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, Caroline Rhea as Mom (Linda Flynn-Fletcher) and Richard O’Brien as Dad (Lawrence Fletcher).

Also joining them once again are Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet Tjinder, Bobby Gaylor as Buford Van Stomm and Tyler Mann as Carl the Intern.
Olivia Olson not only returns to the booth as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz – but also joins her dad Martin as a writing team.
The Phineas and Ferb revival launched on Disney Channel on June 5 – with episodes also available on Disney+.
