AS it happens, quite a a few Family Guy cast members have died during the show’s history.
Whether recurring roles or one-off appearances, each person impacted the show in some way.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, the show follows the exploits of Peter Griffin, a buffoonish blue-collar worker who lives in fictitious Quahog, Rhode Island.
Here are members of the Family Guy cast who have passed away. Many of whom appeared in multiple episodes.
Adam West
Legendary actor Adam West played Family Guy’s Mayor West and the character appeared from 2000-2018.
West played DC Comics hero Batman in the 1960s ABC series of the same name.
He died on June 9, 2017 aged 88.
Phyllis Diller
Comedian and actress Phyllis Diller made three appearances on Family Guy in 2006-7.
Diller voiced Thelma Griffin, Peter’s mother, taking over from Florence Stanley.
Diller died August 20, 2012 aged 95.
Frank Sinatra, Jr
Frank Sinatra, Jr was one of the few recurring Family Guy cast members playing himself.
He appeared multiple times, often paired with Brian.
Sinatra Jr died on March 16, 2016 aged 72.

Charles Durning
Durning was an Academy Award nominee and US army veteran.
On Family Guy, he voiced Peter’s adoptive/supposed father Francis Griffin.
Durning died on December 24, 2012 aged 89; Francis had already been killed off on the show.
Tony Sirico
Former The Sopranos star Tony Sirico played ‘Vinny’, a temporary replacement for Brian during his season 12 death arc.
In addition to his role on The Sopranos, Sirico also served prison time in real life. He was incarcerated for four years; serving 20 months of his sentence.
Sirico died on July 8, 2022 aged 79.
Norm MacDonald
Comedian/actor Norm MacDonald was the original voice of Death.
Although replaced by Adam Carolla, the former Family Guy cast member returned to play himself in a season 16 episode.
MacDonald died of leukaemia on September 14, 2021 – he had not publicly disclosed his condition.
Carrie Fisher
Last but not least, legendary Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher played Peter’s boss Angela in multiple episodes.
Fisher began the role in 2005 and the character’s last (live) appearance was in 2017.
As for Fisher herself, she died on December 27, 2016 aged 60.
To conclude
These actors’ deaths left a gap in Family Guy – particularly Fisher and West.
While they are now gone, they will always be remembered.
