After 7 weeks of singing and deception, the final of The Masked Singer UK is imminent. Who are the celebrities under the remaining masks?
After what seems like a lifetime, The Masked Singer UK Season 2 Grand Final is here. Back on Boxing Day, the journey of 12 brand new disguised celebrities began as the public tried to figure out; “Who is behind the mask?”
Since then, the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor (“Alien”), Mel B (“Seahorse”), Martine McCutcheon (“Swan”), Glenn Hoddle (“Grandfather Clock”), John Thomson (“Bush Baby”), Morten Harket (“Viking), Sir Lenny Henry (“Blob”), Sue Perkins (“Dragon”) and Gabrielle (“Harlequin”) have been unveiled, leaving just three still in play – Badger, Robin, and Sausage.
Guesses and theories have abound from the beginning, with many convinced they have correctly identified the remaining performers before the masks have even been removed. Although there is a consensus to an extent, no one can unanimously agree who each of the finalists actually are.
Online guesses for who is behind the Badger mask range from motorcycle racers James Toseland and Carl “Foggy” Fogarty (likely tying in with the costume’s aesthetic), television presenter Dave Myers of the ‘Hairy Bikers’ and Good Morning Britain anchor Ben Shepherd.
However, fans have become convinced that American singer-songwriter and producer Ne-Yo (real name Shaffer Chimere Smith) is the man behind the mask.
Taking Twitter, one detective wrote: “The badger IS ne-yo. ~the vocals sounded identical ~in September (when The Masked Singer is filmed) Neyo was in the uk to perform with Stefflon Don ~the clue “I see things like a virtual world” is a reference to his stage name… he was a song writer.”
Another added, in reference to a clue package clue: “Neyo turned downed the song blurred lines – he’s badger for sure #TheMaskedSingerUK“.
Who do you think is behind the mask?
Since debuting in the first week, Sausage has wowed both the judges and viewers with her performances. Guesses have included singer/presenter Stacey Solomon, actress/singer Sheridan Smith, journalist Stacey Dooley and singer-songwriter Joss Stone.
Of all these theories, Stone is currently the majority guess, with one fan writing on Twitter: “Sausage is surely Joss Stone #MaskedSingerUK.”
Another also chimed in and commented: “I am now 100% convinced Sausage is Joss Stone.”
Do you think Joss Stone is behind the mask, or is it someone else entirely?
Although many names have been suggested for Robin – including EastEnders‘ Jake Wood, Blue singer Lee Ryan, and former X Factor runner-up Olly Murs, some fans have been certain from the beginning of who is under the mask: singer Aston Merrygold, of JLS.
Certain clues, for Merrygold have begun to pile up, such as Blue (his “colour” in JLS), references to Ireland hinting at his mother’s heritage and the song Rockin Robin’ by Michael Jackson. Robin performed the song as a clue whereas Aston did so on Stars In Their Eyes as a child in 2000.
Is it really Aston Merrygold behind Robin’s mask, or someone else?
