Season 1 of The Masked Singer UK was a hit for ITV in early 2020 – and the show will be making its return on Boxing Day (December 26th). Meet the new characters singing for host Joel Dommett and the judging panel in this elaborate guessing game.
As The Masked Singer UK returns for Season 2 on Boxing Day, fans will be introduced to 12 brand new wacky characters, while trying to guess which celebrities are inside the costumes. Season 1, which aired between January and February 2020, culminated in Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts (as “Queen Bee”) taking the top prize, with comedian Jason Manford (as “Hedgehog”) finishing as the runner-up and opera singer Katherine Jenkins (as “Octopus”) coming in third place.
Ahead of the new season, images of all 12 new contestants have been released by ITV. They are: Alien, Badger, Blob, Bushbaby, Dragon, Grandfather Clock, Harlequin, Robin, Sausage, Seahorse, Swan and Viking. As of writing, none of the adverts for The Masked Singer UK this season have shown any of the characters’ singing abilities, unlike last time. Some of the costume names have already been used on other Masked Singer versions around the world, albeit differing significantly in appearance, while the majority are original to the UK version.
Former I’m A Celebrity contestant Joel Dommett returns to host the series. Panelists Davina McCall, Rita Ora, and Jonathan Ross also make a comeback, while comedian Mo Gilligan steps in for Season 1 judge Ken Jeong, owing to COVID travel restrictions.
So, who is hiding under these elaborate masks? Only time will tell, until all 12 have been eventually revealed. If the first season is anything to go by, there could be anyone from professional singers, athletes, politicians and media personalities taking part.
The Masked Singer UK returns on Boxing Day (December 26th) – ITV, 7pm.
