Country singer LeAnn Rimes has won Season 4 of The Masked Singer. Rimes, who performed under the ‘Sun’ persona, made her first appearance during the season premiere on September 23.
From 16, now only 1 remains.
Country music star LeAnn Rimes (also known as ‘Sun’) has been named the Season 4 winner of FOX’s The Masked Singer . Rimes beat the likes of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter (“Crocodile”) and singer/record producer Aloe Blacc (“Mushroom”) to the Golden Mask trophy in Wednesday’s finale episode. Rimes follows the three previous champions: rapper T-Pain, actor/comedian Wayne Brady and singer/reality TV star Kandi Burruss.
Immediately after being unmasked, Rimes told host Nick Cannon: “This has been an overwhelming experience. I didn’t expect it to be this much work, I have to say. It was a blast. I’ve totally been brought back to when I was a kid.”
She continued: ” I was five years old when I told everyone I wanted to sing. I’ve always wondered how I knew, at that age, that I wanted to sing. I kind of discovered it again behind this mask, to give and receive love. That’s totally what’s happened.”
During her time on The Masked Singer, Rimes performed a diverse range of songs for the judges. This includes: “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo, “Praying by Kesha”, “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin, “When The Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish and in her final performance as Sun, “The Story” by Brandi Carlile.
Back in the early stages of the competition, Rimes-as-Sun was one of five performers in ‘Group A’, the first line-up to take to The Masked Singer stage in Season 4. Rimes overcame singer Taylor Dayne (“Popcorn”), fellow country music star Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman (“Snow Owls”), Beverly Hills: 90210 actor Brian Austin Green (“Giraffe”) and rapper Busta Rhymes (“Dragom”).
Other contestants throughout the season included Baby Alien, Gremlin, Serpent, Jellyfish, Squiggly Monster, Lips, Whatchamacallit and Broccoli – a lineup that included actors, athletes, media personalities and even a viral star.
