‘Love, Victor’: Will More ‘Love, Simon’ Characters Return For Hulu Series?

Love, Victor, the television sequel to Greg Berlanti’s 2018 film Love, Simon, has arrived on Hulu. Some familiar characters have already made a comeback in Season 1. Could more return in a potential Season 2?

The long-awaited Love, Victor officially premiered on June 17, with the entire first season airing on Hulu. Love, Simon‘s television sequel was originally supposed to air two days later however the date was changed out of respect for Juneteenth.

Rather than directly picking up after Love, Simon, the television series has a new lead character: recent Creekwood transfer student Victor Salazar (Michael Cimino). While this is very much Victor’s show, there are still many links to the film. This can be attributed to the screenwriters of Love, Simon, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, co-creating the television series.

Nick Robinson (who played Simon Spier) returns as a producer as well as in-character, as Simon, Victor’s mostly unseen penpal in New York. Keiynan Lonsdale (Bram “Blue” Greenfeld) and Natasha Rothwell (Ms. Albright) also reprise their roles. Three other characters – Simon’s parents Jack and Emily (Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Garner) as well as Vice Principal Worth (Tony Hale), are shown in pictures.

Now that three characters from the movie have transitioned to Love, Victor, could anyone else be joining them?

Former 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford, who played Leah Burke in Love, Simon, has previously spoken out about reprising her role. The Australian star said: “I mean, it’s always a discussion of who would make it, but if the script was good and the filmmaker had a great vision, then I would be totally down. I’m always down to tell a good story.”

Although this was referencing a potential movie adaptation of Leah on The Offbeat (a sequel to Simon vs the Homosapiens AgendaLove, Simon’s basis), Langford has indicated that she would be open to reprising to her role, dependent on whether the script and vision would be a good standard.

Not counting the photo cameos, other prominent actors from the movie included Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg Jr, Logan Miller, Talitha Bateman, Miles Heizer, Joey Pollari and Clark Moore. Whether any of them will appear in Love, Victor is currently unknown. However, having the same writers as the film works in their favour. This means that any character from Love, Simon could theoretically appear, if it makes sense story-wise.

Love, Victor is currently airing on Hulu. The series stars Michael Cimino, Ana Ortiz, James Martinez, Rachel Naomi Hilson, Anthony Turpel, George Sear, Bebe Wood, Isabella Ferreira, Mateo Fernandez and Mason Gooding.
