Anjelika Washington plays Beth Chapel on DC’s Stargirl. Read on to find out more about the actress behind this newest incarnation of Dr Mid-Nite.
Anjelika Washington, born and raised in California, has just landed the role of a lifetime. She co-stars as Beth Chapel on Stargirl, based on the DC Comics character, airing on DC Universe and The CW. The character is an eccentric High School outcast who becomes Dr. Mid-Nite, one of Stargirl’s allies and partners.
But what about actress Anjelika Washington? Well, since starting her professional acting career in 2014, Washington has appeared in a wide range of formats. This includes television series, feature film and short films.
Per IMDB, some of Washington’s short films between 2014 and 2017 have included Within the Cave, The Classroom, Domme, If You Could Only Be You and Rumspringa. In between these jobs, Washington appeared in episodes of Dating Pains, Versus and Hulu’s Runaways, coincidentally based upon Marvel Comics characters.
More recently, Washington had one episode roles on both Young Sheldon and Shameless. Additionally, she added more short films, Silent Screams and Molly, to her resume.
From 2018, Washington began landing bigger roles and longer arcs on various shows. For example, she played the role of “Mia” on We’re Not Friends for 4 episodes as well as “Gloria” on Girls Room for a total of 5 episodes.
In 2019, the year Stargirl was originally supposed to premiere, Washington portrayed the supporting role of “Fareeda” in Tall Girl, a film released by Netflix. It also starred an all-star cast including Ava Michelle, Griffin Gluck, Sabrina Carpenter, Paris Berelc and Steve Zahn.
Returning to her television roots, Washington also guest starred as “Sheena” in an episode of Those Who Can’t during 2019.
