More than two years after Game of Thrones ended on HBO, a select group of actors will reunite for a special event.
The hit fantasy series Game of Thrones aired between 2011 and 2018 on HBO. Set in the fictional world of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms, the show launched the likes of Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) to worldwide fame. It was based on George RR Martin’s novels, A Song of Ice and Fire.
For almost a decade, fans around the globe watched warring family factions fight across cities and foreign lands for control of the Iron Throne. At the centre of the action were the Stark, Lannister and Baratheon families, all of whom laid claim to rule over the others. In May 2018, the series ended and a new ruler was selected – though not all were happy with the choice made by series co-creators, David Benioff and DB Weiss.
Now, more than two years after Thrones concluded, Entertainment Weekly reports that some of the cast will reunite for a good cause. Staying in the medieval realm, the actors will play a charity game of Dungeons and Dragons, titled D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage. This is intended to raise money for Red Nose Day.
Additionally, ET has revealed which Game of Thrones actors will be taking part in the star-studded event. The line-up includes Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton), Natalia Tena (Osha), Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne) and Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy). Furthermore, Dungeons and Dragons game designer, Kate Welch will serve as Dungeon Master.
The actors’ campaign for the game has been described as “a group of heroes who meet an unusual creature that sets them on a strange task. Seems simple enough — but in a realm legendary for its danger, all is not what it seems.” The Game of Thrones event will take place on Saturday, June 20 over video chat at 12 PM Pacific/3PM Eastern.
