Former WWE star Shad Gaspard is missing at sea, after rescuing his son from drowning.
UPDATE: It was sadly confirmed that Gaspard has died, aged 39.
Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard, who worked in the tag team “Cryme Tyme” between 2006 to 2010, has gone missing at sea.
On May 17, Gaspard, 39, was swimming with his 10-year-old son and a group of other individuals.
After the other swimmers were rescued, Gaspard was pulled out to sea by a rip tide after requesting that his son be saved first.
36 hours after Gaspard’s disappearance, the LAPD and the US Coast Guard called off the search for the still-missing wrestler.
Meanwhile, current and former colleagues have been sharing tributes to Gaspard and his actions on social media.
His longtime tag team partner Jayson Paul (JTG), shared a text message conversation that the two had shared in January. Gaspard wrote “If I ever die tomorrow just know that I love you as a brother and friend forever, even past this life.”
JTG responded “Love you too brotha.”
Former WWE United States and tag team champion MVP also paid tribute to Gaspard by writing on Twitter “Shad Gaspard had a HUGE heart. He was like an annoying little brother at times. We often gave eachother a hard time, but always with love! He always had a big smile on his face and was ready to share a laugh!”
Ring of Honor star Jay Lethal wrote “[Shad’s] family appreciates all the love, support, and concern through this horrible ordeal. At this time they are not ready to make any public or official statements to any media outlet And ask all to respect their wishes.”
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley commented “This is just terrible news about Shad Gaspard being missing. I am thinking and praying for Shad, his family, and all those who love him”.
