Season three of The Masked Singer has been airing since February, with a variety of different celebrities being revealed under elaborate costumes.
As of this writing, only 7 of the original 18 contestants remain in the competition: Astronaut, Kitty, Banana, Rhino, Frog, Turtle and Night Angel.
Only one can win and take home that Golden Mask trophy. But who will it be? Who will fall before the final hurdle?
After the April 8 episode, it is already known that Astronaut, Turtle and Night Angel at least make top 6. The other four will perform during the April 22 episode.
That being said, here is the official look into Courageous Nerd’s predictions for how the rest of this season will unfold.
7th – Rhino (revealed as Barry Zito)
One of three remaining members of Group C, Rhino has performed songs including “Have a Little Faith In Me” by John Hiatt and “Nice to Meet Ya” by Niall Horan thus far in the competition.
Assuming the popular guess of his identity: former MLB pitcher Barry Zito, is correct then he is the only remaining contestant who did not have singing/performing as their first, full-time career. Zito entered music after retiring from baseball.
6th – Banana (revealed as Bret Michaels)
Since first appearing in week 4, Banana has peeled back his skin to perform “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley and “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus, albeit forgetting some of the lyrics for the latter mid-performance.
While Banana was definitely a better singer than many of those eliminated, he is one of the weakest ones still in the show.
Another nail coffin is that the popular guess: former Poison frontman Bret Michaels has already been guessed by the judges as well as the fans, meaning his mask is probably coming off soon.
5th – Night Angel (revealed as Kandi Burruss)
Night Angel is one of only two female vocalists among the remaining seven. However, she also appears to be the weaker singer of the two.
With a distinctive costume and a very fake British accent, Night Angel is one of the memorable presences to pass through The Masked Singer.
Fans believe Night Angel is singer and reality TV star Kandi Burruss and the clues are lining up to prove it.
However, there are simply stronger performers left in play who will likely best Night Angel.
4th – Astronaut (revealed as Hunter Hayes)
Astronaut, or “Astro”, has knocked fans out of this world with his renditions of “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder.
Recently, Astro was pitted against fellow heartthrob Turtle in a face-off, with both ultimately surviving the episode.
3rd – Kitty (revealed as Jackie Evancho)
From the beginning, Kitty had everyone confused as to who she was. The guesses included Emma Watson, Lucy Hale, Sarah Hyland and Vanessa Hudgens.
Should this be the case, there would be a reunion on the cards – The Masked Singer host Nick Cannon formerly hosted America’s Got Talent and was in this role during 2010, when Evancho was on the show.
2nd/Runner Up – Frog (revealed as Shad “Bow Wow” Moss)
One of the standouts of the competition, Frog has proved to be an entertaining performer with his singing, rapping and dancing.
Advancing through to the Super 9, it had been clear for a long time that Frog was actually the rapper Bow Wow (real name Shad Moss).
His multi-talented skillset makes him a top contender to win this whole competition and definitely someone that the other contestants need to keep an eye on.
1st/Winner – Turtle (revealed as Jesse McCartney)
From the clues and vocals, Turtle is definitely Jesse McCartney. That much has been proven already.
Not only is he one of (if not the) best vocalist of this season, he also is perfect material for a winner of The Masked Singer.
In Turtle’s first clue package, he mentions wanting to make a ‘big splash’ which can be assumed as meaning a career resurgence. The previous two winners each had something to prove and this falls in line with the same reasoning.
The Masked Singer continues Wednesdays on FOX.
