Could a DCTV YouTuber Cameo in Crisis on Infinite Earths?

by Conor O'Brien

Note: I am not speculating IF a DC YouTuber will be appearing in the event, merely speculating how they COULD, if the opportunity came around.

Crisis on Infinite Earths, the latest crossover in the Arrowverse franchise of CW superhero shows doesn’t hit our screens until December but there’s been plenty of information to mull over in the meantime.

From returning Arrowverse actors to cameos from some of DC’s most iconic cinematic stars, it looks set to be the most impressive of these events since they began with Arrow and The Flash.

As any follower of these shows on social media is aware, some individuals have made a name for themselves on YouTube by speculating and analysing the shows, trying to figure out where the story is going, possible new characters. That kind of thing.

Primarily, those in the picture above: Pagey, BobaTalks, Emergency Awesome, TheDCTVshow and AirricksReloaded are what I call the ‘Big Five’, most well-known and watched. Although there has already been a joke rumour of Pagey appearing in Crisis (which he has addressed), this is not about that. I am not even theorising who, if anyone, could possibly be in the event.

Instead, I will be sharing a scenario that I would use, if I were writing Crisis and how I would incorporate and acknowledge these well-known YouTubers

In the Marvel Universe, DC’s rival, we occasionally see the perspective of ‘normal’ people outside of the heroes. After all, that world is effectively the same as ours, the only difference is that super-powered humans exist.

In relation to the Arrowverse, all of the action takes place, for the most part, in select cities on different Earths: Star City and Central City on Earth 1, National City on Earth 38 and soon to be Gotham City for Batwoman, also on Earth 1. Legends of Tomorrow is the only exception.

Now, by this point, surely people who live elsewhere would have heard about these strange cities full of superheroes? Maybe, I don’t know, they made videos online about them? Talking about their powers, battles, enemies. Yes, I would take clips which can be interpreted in a different way (i.e. not referring to the show) and use it in the crossover as an excited person talking about their favourite hero. How it would be worked in is another question – I am not privy to the Crisis scripts and thus the storyline, I just think it would be cool.

Of the five I chose, there is also a distinct international variety. Pagey is Australian, Emergency Awesome and AirricksReloaded are American while both BobaTalks and TheDCTVshow are from the UK.

Word of these heroes, over the past seven years, when Arrow began, would have reached far and wide. Especially in the digital age we live in, if something as fantastical as this happened years ago, it would be widely known by now.

They, or the Arrowverse versions of them, do not even have to be from the same Earth. In particular, Pagey seems to be a fan of Green Arrow and DCTVshow of Supergirl, so those fall accordingly. After all, people from one Earth may not know a lot about superheroes across the multiverse.

In any case, we can all enjoy the Crisis on Infinite Earths event, which kicks off on December 8 with an episode of Supergirl.
